ISREAL ELIMINATES TOP HAMAS AIR FORCE COMMANDER
Israel's military has confirmed the killing of Ali Hussein Burji, a regional commander of Hezbollah's air force, according to a report by CNN on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that Burji was responsible for a recent attack on an Israeli command center.
The IDF disclosed in an official statement that Burji commanded the Southern Lebanon Region of Hezbollah's Aerial Unit.
He was allegedly at the helm of multiple terror activities against Israel, utilizing both explosive and surveillance Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).
"Ali Hussein Burji led dozens of terror activities against Israel using explosive UAVs and surveillance UAVs against Israel and IDF soldiers," the IDF's statement read, detailing the extent of his involvement in hostile actions.
The military further elaborated that they intercepted a launch cell affiliated with Hezbollah's Aerial Unit.
This cell was reportedly en route to deploy explosive UAVs in various locations within Israel.
The operation led to the elimination of the launch cell, thwarting what could have been another destructive attack.
Adding more details, IDF spokesperson Daniel Hagari confirmed in a press conference, "We eliminated him [Burji] in a drone."
Hezbollah, meanwhile, acknowledged Burji's death on its social media platforms.
The militant group, which is backed by Iran, has not issued any further statements regarding potential retaliation or future plans.
